Training and Experience:
Wendy Bramham has over twenty years’ experience of providing therapy for people in a variety of settings. In addition to working in private practice since 1998, she has also taught developmental psychology at WPF Counselling (http://www.wpf.org.uk/) in Wokingham, and has worked for a large group of four GP practices in Alton, Hampshire as their on-site counsellor for three years. Whilst her specialty is long-term adult psychotherapy, she also offers short-term therapy and is experienced in working with teenagers and adolescents within the NHS and privately. She is also an experienced executive coach, and has a background in business, having worked at BUPA for five years, where she facilitated a counselling/coaching/mentoring programme for BUPA employees.
Wendy trained and qualified with WPF Counselling and Psychotherapy in London, over a five year period, three of which involved full-time study. It is a long and rigorous training distinguished by the depth and breadth of clinical experience acquired, together with a strong academic component at Masters level. Since then she has undergone numerous further training courses including CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), and transpersonal therapy.
Wendy is committed to ongoing professional development and, since 2014, she has organised regular professional development seminars for therapists in the wider community, with renowned speakers and workshop leaders.
Wendy is the proprietor and clinic director of Wendy Bramham Therapy, a health practice in Newbury and Marlborough, established in 2011, and now with a team of 16 professionals. The clinic specialises in talking therapies and integrated health, offering professional consultations to children and adults regarding psychological difficulties and chronic health concerns.
Style of working:
Wendy is aware how scary it can be to book and attend a first therapy session, and she prides herself on her warm, empathic style which enables the client to feel safe and understood, whilst being able to undertake incisive work when appropriate.
Wendy's original training in the 1990s provided an invaluable and in-depth understanding and application of the psychodynamic model of therapy (this is explained via the link below). Since then, Wendy has evolved her style into a more "integrative" approach, providing flexiblity to suit the individual client and the nature of the problems. Click here for more information about Wendy's way of working.
Wendy is bound by the BACP Code of Ethics and Practice and is subject to their complaints procedures, which ensure the highest standards of professional practice.
